What catches our eye is the Swoosh's pure sense of motion: one tapered stroke that feels fast and confident without a single letter.

About the Nike logo
The Nike logo is the Swoosh: a single black curved stroke that starts as a thick, rounded hook on the left and tapers to a sharp point at the upper right. The shape suggests both a tick and fast movement, and its asymmetry gives it a strong sense of speed. Designed in 1971 by Carolyn Davidson, it uses one flat colour and no lettering, so it sits comfortably on shoes, apparel and signage. Until 1995 the official corporate logo cradled the name NIKE inside the Swoosh; since then the Swoosh has stood on its own.
